 A cooling system is important for your computer to keep cool when a lot of things are running at once.  A cooling system makes sure your processors, video cards, and other important pieces of the computer can run at full speed without overheating. 

If you have high tech equipment with only a small fan for your computer cooling system, your computer is going to get fried.  Your devices will overheat after only a few hours of use and you'll be out of luck.  The right cooling system for your computer is crucial. 

Fan cooling system - Computer fans are the most popular type of cooling system. They are great for personal use on your computer. Almost all laptops utilize a mini cooling fan. A cooling fan is a great choice for a mid-range CPU as well. Fans show up on your GPU (video) cards, sound cards, and often on the motherboard. Fans are usually attached to the back of the computer as well. If you're worried your computer might overheat, consider a fan cooling system for a mid range computer. AIr fans are great, but they are noisy and can only circulate so much air. You can pick a fan up at your local computer store and install it yourself.  Installation: Anyone can install a fan, this the easiest cooling system to install if you're not too computer savy. 

Water Cooling system - Water cooling was originally developed for monster mainframe computers in large businesses. Water cooling is now a cool option for personal high end PC's. Water cooling is great because one water cooling system can cool multiple components of your computer. Water cooling is also much more effective than a little fan, and much quieter too. With lights on the water cooling system, these things can look pretty cool on high end PC's making them one of the more popular computer cooling systems. On the downside, a cooling leak can damage electrical components in your computer. Installation: You will want to get a water system professionally installed, but it's the moste effective. 

Passive Heat Sink - Passive heat sink cooling is great for a do it yourself project, and even cheap if you purchase it. This computer cooling system is ideal if you just need a quick or cheap fix. How it works is that you attach a metal component to your card or motherboard, whatever the source of heat is. This metal piece has fins extending outwards away from the heat source. The metal pieces conduct heat, and emmit it outwards into the air away from the heat source. A simple concept, but pretty effective for small amounts of heat. Installation: You can install a heat sink if you know what you're doing, but otherwise it's better to get help from someone who knows about computers and soldering.
