Utah, The State

Utah has a wide variety of hikes and trails to explore. The state of Utah has 6 different National Parks, and several different state parks to explore. The state is also riddled with waterfalls, cool rock formations, and nice scenic areas. The hiking trails in Utah are endless, and there is something at every diffuculty so that you can find a Utah hike that everyone will enjoy.

Whether you live in in St George, Salt Lake, or even in the middle of Utah, there are popular hikes waiting for you. Ive lived in Utah a few years and have been hiking around some of the more popular trails.  Here are some great Utah hikes that are easy enough for any age, and fun for everyone.

Some Great Trails to Consider

Mt Timpanogos - this is one of the best Utah hikes in the state.  It's great because the trail up the mountain is paved and not very steep.  I've even seen people in wheel chairs make this climb with a little help.  There's a cave at the top of the mountain that's cheap and really interesting.  The trail up to the cave is 1 1/2 miles, the cave itself is about 3/4 of a mile, and then you walk back down.  The round trip hike is relatively easy and enjoyable for all ages.  There are also much more difficult trails that go up the back side of the Timpanogos mountain.  The Timpanogos mountain is located a short distance from Salt Lake City, making it a great Utah hike.

Antelope Island - This Island in the middle of the great salt lake is a fun hiking experience and a chance to see some of the Utah wildlife.  Buffalo and antelope call this island home, and it's surrounded by the beautiful Great Salt Lake; a wonder by itself.  This is a great Utah hike becuase of the many expansive trails.  The island offers more than 20 miles of trails, and a casual 3.3 mile trail to the peak point of the island.  This trail is fun and the difficulty is average.  It is a trail unlike any other, rendering it a great Utah hike.

Zions - Zions national park is a great Utah hike in southern Utah. It's got expansive trails and awesome rock formations that make it a highlight for any Utah hiking tour. The park also offers bus tours around the Utah State park that make this one hard to pass up.  Zions park is really close to at least 2 other Utah State parks that also have hiking trails and impressive rock formations.

Arches - Arches national park isn't much for plants and trees, but has some of the most interesting rock formations and hiking trails in Utah.  Any list on Utah hikes wouldn't be complete without mention of Arches National Park.  This park offers wide expanses of trails, but also offers trails short enough that you can hike from the parking lot.  The famous Delicate Arch can be reached from the parking lot in only a few minutes.  Arches is another great location for Utah Hikes
